A dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan is an accurate method of testing bone mineral density. This noninvasive test is used to predict your risk of an osteoporotic fracture. Buffalo Rheumatology has a bone density scanner in each of our two facilities.

- Lasts about 20 minutes
- Pain-free, noninvasive X-ray
- Radiation is less than that of a standard X-ray
- Patients can usually keep their clothes on
