Bone Density Scan

A dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan is an accurate method of testing bone mineral density. This noninvasive test is used to predict your risk of an osteoporotic fracture. Buffalo Rheumatology has a bone density scanner in each of our two facilities.

Feel prepared for your DXA scan. Keep in mind the following test factors:

  • Covered by most health insurance plans
  • Lasts about 20 minutes
  • Pain-free, noninvasive X-ray
  • Radiation is less than that of a standard X-ray
  • Patients can usually keep their clothes on

Our technicians have completed the ISCD (International Society of Clinical Densitometrists) technologist course and the accompanying test to receive their professional CBDT (Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist) certifications. Our emphasis on continual training means you always get the best treatment available.

Contact our office to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about an upcoming DXA scan.
